Long-term self-isolation has led to a significant increase in the popularity of sports apps (especially, as it is not difficult to guess, at home). Now, after the restrictions are lifted, the demand for them remains, but there are so many of them in the main app stores that it is difficult to figure out what is suitable for a particular person. Real time decided to select some of the most popular and convenient apps related to different types of fitness and physical activity.
Nike Training Club for Android and iOS One of the most popular training apps in recent times is Nike Training Club. It offers 185 types of free fitness activities, including both strength and cardio, as well as yoga and others. In the app, which is nice, there are training sessions that were designed specifically for famous athletes-Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams and others, which will allow you to feel involved with the stars. Classes are based on an interval scheme and last 15, 30 or 45 minutes. In most cases, you do not need any special equipment for exercises, so you can practice both at home and on the street. Each action is accompanied by hints, and training videos are also available.
Adidas Training for Android and iOS Another major sportswear manufacturer, Adidas, also has its own fitness apps. The running app-the former most popular Runtastic, bought by Adidas in 2015, is now called Adidas Running (it has versions for iOS and Android). The app can be considered basic, it counts distance, calories, and average pace based on your smartphone’s GPS data. By the way, Nike’s competing app — Nike Run Club (also available for iOS and Android), as well as Training Club, offers audio recommendations during training.
The second app from Adidas is Training, an alternative to Nike Training Club. Here you can develop your own individual training depending on your goals. There are about two hundred videos available, there are tips on proper nutrition, you can watch photos “before/after” other users, you can, respectively, share your own. The paid version gives you access to additional training sessions.
Workout Trainer for Android and iOS An app that also focuses on exercises without sports equipment, with an emphasis on weight training. The program has sections with exercises for crossfit and workout. Unlike many other apps, it supports Google Fit. One of the main drawbacks of the app is the lack of support for the Russian language. however, the app has been installed more than 10 million times on Google Play — a result comparable to Nike Training Club and Adidas Training.
Simply Yoga for Android and iOS One of the most popular yoga apps is Simply Yoga. It is positioned as “your free personal yoga instructor”. The app has about 45 lessons with about 300 asanas with video and audio instructions, the free version has six lessons and more than 35 poses. The duration of one training session is from 20 to 60 minutes. One of the main drawbacks is the lack of Russian. However, given that most of the work with the app requires repeating what you see on the screen, this may not be a problem even for those who do not speak English.
